CBDP and Promoting Flood Coping Mechanism

Floods are an annual phenomenonFlood is an annual phenomenon in a major part of the operational area of GPSVS.  The problem has been aggravated after the construction of the Koshi-Kamla-Bhuthi Balan embankment as the devastation by floods has increased.

It will not be misplaced to conclude that the residents of flood probe areas will have to survive with floods because no way floods can be stopped. A long-term preparedness for disaster response, development of the skills of living/coping with the recurring floods and initiation of a people's movement for compensation for the damage along with right to life for the flood affected people is being promoted under disaster response.

District and state level meetings/workshops are being organised for preparedness and resuscitation the traditional techniques and skills of health care and other necessities of surviving with recurring floods with active participation of community, non governmental organisations and government officials and all other stakeholders.
